Fractals! (PvE Content)

Fractals! (PvE Content)

Hey folks! 🎮
When it comes to PvE stuff in GW2, Fractals are basically the king. Okay, maybe strike missions could fight for the top spot, but let’s be real—fractals are the thing you can spam every day without getting bored (well, kinda 😅).

Why are they so good? Easy: 💰 Gold, baby. On average you’re pulling in 10–15 gold per run. Throw in mats and random drops and you’re suddenly looking at 20–25 gold. Not bad for yelling at bosses and watching your healer suffer, right?

So what’s the deal with Fractals?

Unlike other PvE modes, fractals come with this special pain mechanic called Agony (yes, the name says it all 💀). But before we get there, here’s the basic structure:

There are 100 fractal levels, split into tiers:

  • Tier 1: Lvls 1–25 (T1 for short)

  • Tier 2: Lvls 26–50 (T2)

  • Tier 3: Lvls 51–75 (T3)

  • Tier 4: Lvls 76–100 (T4, aka “welcome to hell”)

At the start, T1 is chill—you don’t even need agony resistance. But as you climb higher, the game basically says: “You thought this was easy? Hold my beer.” 🍺 The Agony damage ramps up, and you’ll need to gear up with agony infusions to not instantly melt.

Daily System (aka the to-do list)

Each day you’ve got a few fractals on the menu. Depending on your tier:

  • T1 = 3 dailies + 1 recommended = 4 runs

  • T2 = 3 dailies + 2 recommended = 5 runs (you also get T1 loot for free)

  • T3 = 3 dailies + 3 recommended = 6 runs (T1 + T2 included)

  • T4 = 3 dailies + 3 recommended = 6 runs (includes everything below)

Now if you’re a madlad, you can go full sweat mode: CM + T4 + Recs = 12 runs. Honestly? That’s pain. Most people just do CM + T4 = 9 runs, which is already enough to question your life choices. 😂

Agony: The Fractal Tax

Agony is basically a DOT (damage over time) that fries you unless you’ve slotted enough infusions. You slap these little agony stones (+1, +3, +5, etc.) into your gear, and suddenly you’re a bit less squishy. Merge them to make higher ones, or just throw gold at the Trading Post because let’s be honest, some of us are lazy.

For example:

  • T1 lvl 25 asks for ~20 AR.

  • T4 lvl 100? Around 150 AR.
That means you’ll need +9 infusions in your gear if you want to survive. Otherwise, enjoy watching your HP bar go brrrr and your team flame you. 🤷‍♂️

Challenge Modes (CMs a.k.a. “real pain”)

CMs are the spicy version of fractals. Extra mechanics, harder fights, and more screaming in voice chat. They’re all in Tier 4:

  • 95 CM

  • 96 CM (old CM)

  • 97 CM (old CM)

  • 98 CM

  • 99 CM

  • 100 CM

To survive these, you need two things:

  1. Know the mechanics (yes, boss does spin-to-win, dodge it 🙃)

  2. Actually know how to play your class (shocking, I know).

Fail these, and your group will disband faster than a boy band in the 2000s.

When you do CMs, you earn this thing called UFE (basically your fractal XP flex badge). In LFG you’ll see stuff like:

  • “CM + T4 5k UFE”

  • “CM only, 10k UFE”

  • Or the giga-chads with “100k UFE” 🤯

The higher your UFE, the more people trust you’re not gonna faceplant instantly.

Common Questions You Might Be Thinking 🤔

  • “What pots/food should I use?” 🍲

  • “I’ve got a +5 infusion, how do I upgrade to +7 or +9?”

  • “What’s ‘UTI & FOOD’ mean in LFG?”

  • “Why does this guy have a fancy fractal title?”

  • “Rev Orb in my bag… what do?”

I’ll cover these in another guide (or maybe drop a video on my YouTube 👀).

Till then, good luck, have fun, and may your agony resist actually resist something. ✌️
