How to Unlock Your Griffon

Hey folks! I’m back again with a brand-new post for you all! 

👉 In this post, I’m gonna show you how to snag the epic Griffon mount!

Griffon Quest

So check it, once you wrap up the Path of Fire story, weird stuff starts popping up in your bags — like some funky Strange Pellet of Bones and Fur, Strange Droppings (ew), and a Strange Feather. Basically, the game’s way of saying: “Yo, griffons exist, go find ‘em.” 🐦✨ These things point you to Beastmaster Ghazal chilling in The Menagerie at the Garden of Seborhin (north Vabbi). He’ll then throw you over to his buddy Seeker Kandake, hanging out at Spearmarshal’s Lament in southeast Vabbi.

⚠️ Side note: You don’t actually need these weird items to start the griffon grind. They’re just like… “lore sprinkles.”
 Getting to Kandake (aka the first mini-adventure) Start at Vehtendi Academy Waypoint  Head southeast toward Vehtendi Vineyard  Before hitting the grapes, cut east.

Oh, surprise! Welcome to a brandstorm — basically Zeus on steroids throwing lightning at your face.  Solution? Hop on your skimmer to dodge the lightning strikes.

Follow the path → hit the jackal portal → switch mounts super fast (skimmer → jackal) → boom, you’re at Kandake on Spearmarshal’s Lament 

Talk to her, then get your springer out and hop up the ledge above her. To the left, there’s another jackal portal (not the one on the ground, the high one — don’t get it twisted).

If you mess up and fall, no worries, springer your way back up. 

Take the portal → land safely in Yahnur Plateau → no more lightning stress. From there, bounce up with your springer and you’ll reach the legendary Sunspear Sanctuary.

 (And yeah, there are other ways to get there… but this one’s kinda fun.)

🔓 Unlocking the Griffon

Finish Path of Fire.

Go to Sunspear Sanctuary.

Talk to the Remains of the Last Spearmarshal → choose “I’ll see what I can do.”

Congrats, you’ve unlocked the Open Skies collections and scored yourself a Spearmarshal’s Plea (basically a teleport-back ticket ).

Now, the grind begins:

Collect runestones from events.

Hunt down griffon eggs across maps.

Buy 10 special items from Heart Merchants. (25 gold each, 250g total ). 

Unlock achievements

  •  Open Skies: Sunspear Sanctuary
  • Open Skies: Crystal Oasis
  • Open Skies: Desert Highlands
  • Open Skies: Elon Riverlands
  • Open Skies: The Desolation
  • Open Skies: Domain of Vabbi
  • Open Skies: Sunspear Wisdom
  • Open Skies: On Wings and a Prayer 

Yo, you gotta smash these achievements in order, no skipping, aight? ⏳💀 How long it takes or how much gold you’re burning… that’s on you, dawg. But lemme spill it — ain’t no guessing, you’re forking out 250 gold. Ka-ching! 🤑😂

Pro tip: Start the collections even if you’re broke, ‘cause there’s a TON of exploring to do that doesn’t cost gold.

⚠️ Heads up: If you somehow sneak into Sunspear Sanctuary early with a Teleport to Friend — nice try, but nada will work until you’ve finished the story.

  Skyscale Yes, when we first started playing the game and were exploring the Tyria maps, seeing other players flying around freely while we were walking or riding a Raptor could be a bit frustrating. Questions like, “Why am I walking while they’re flying? How can I get this mount? What do I need to do to obtain it?” constantly ran through our minds.
