GUILD WARS 2 – ARMOR SETS & ITEMS
GUILD WARS 2 – ARMOR SETS & ITEMS (Made Simple)
Yo folks, I’m back again! ✌️ We live in a time where you can literally find any info you need about Guild Wars 2: YouTube vids, guides, friends yelling at you on Discord… And yet somehow, we still manage to run around clueless. (Yes, guilty as charged 😂).
Anyway, enough chit-chat — let’s get into today’s topic. What’s on the menu? If you’re new and wondering:
-
“Which armor set should I go for?”
-
“Do I need Power or Condi?”
-
“What the heck do these colors mean?”
-
“And what about endgame, huh?”
I’ve got you covered. Here’s the breakdown, nice and easy.
a. Which armor sets are commonly used?
For PvE:
-
Power DPS = burst damage. Great if bosses sit still like a training dummy.
-
Condi DPS = damage over time (burn, poison, torment, cripple, you name it). Better for bosses that won’t stop running laps around the arena.
If you’re DPS, you basically need both. Period.
If you’re a healer or support:
-
Healers usually rock Harrier or Celestial.
-
Supports (Alac/Quickness enjoyers) tend to roll with Ritualist or Diviner.
The classics:
-
Power = Berserker’s
-
Condi = Viper’s
b. So… which set should I use?
Depends on your role. For raids and strikes, Exotics are fine. For fractals, though? You’ll need Ascended gear because of that lovely little thing called Agony Resistance (yep, it’s as painful as it sounds).
👉 I even wrote about it here: Fractals Guide.
Personally, I love Celestial for open world. Super tanky, still does damage, and keeps you alive when ten angry centaurs decide you’re the problem.
PvP/WvW? Forget everything I just said — those are a different beast. I’ll cover them in another post.
c. Items & Their Colors
Guild Wars 2 loves its colors. Here’s the cheat sheet:
-
White = Basic
-
Blue = Fine
-
Green = Masterwork
-
Yellow = Rare
-
Orange = Exotic (good enough for raids & strikes, NOT fractals)
-
Pink = Ascended
-
Purple = Legendary (aka the “I can swap stats whenever I want” flex set 💅)
👉 “Note: There’s no stat difference between Legendary and Ascended gear — both have the exact same stats.”
d. Endgame Armor – What should I aim for?
Of course, we’d all love to be decked out in full Legendary like some fashion god. But let’s be real — that stuff costs time, gold, and a piece of your soul.
Bottom line: Pick the role you want to play, build that set, and expand later when you feel like trying new stuff.
That’s all for now, fam. Drop a comment — whether it’s a correction, a question, or just to say “hi.” Thanks for reading, and see you in Tyria! 🐉✨
