💰 How to Make Gold Fast in Guild Wars 2 – Ultimate Beginner’s Guide

HOW DO I MAKE GOLD IN THIS GAME?

If you ever Google this, congratulations — you’re basically doing what 99% of players do: type in “how to get gold in GW2” like it’s the secret to life. Alright, character’s made, level 80 unlocked, every story beat completed… but still no gold. So where the heck do we even get it?

Let’s calculate how much gold you can realistically squeeze out of your daily grind. And if you’re like me… you get home, tired from work, chat with your spouse or kids for a couple hours, and then say, “Alright universe, it’s GW2 time!” — that’s when you realize every minute in this game is basically liquid gold waiting to be mined… if you don’t die from exhaustion first.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Daily missions / Weekly missions

  • Daily Strike Missions (IBS5) + Dragonstorm

  • Daily Fractals (based on your tier)

  • Open World Meta Events

  • World Bosses

  • Weekly Raids

Daily & Weekly Missions

With the SoTO expansion, everything changed. There’s now a shiny little thing called Wizard Vault in the left menu (PvE only, don’t cheat). It gives you four mission options. Do one, get 1 gold. Plus Astral Acclaim tokens — limit 1300. Hit the cap, game yells at you: “Spend them, peasant!” Spend your tokens on stuff you actually need: skins, ascended armor/weapons, build storage… you know, essentials. Anything left over? 35 tokens = 1 gold bag. So if you max your 1300 tokens, that’s a solid 37 gold. Not bad for a few clicks.

Daily Strikes (IBS5 + DS)

After Wizard Vault, you do IBS5 + Dragonstorm. Why? Let’s math this out:

  • 5 strike missions × 45 silver each = 2 gold

  • Dragonstorm once daily = 2 gold (second run? nope, buddy, only once)

SoTO Strike CO + ToF — each 2 gold, both = 4 gold
EoD Strike AH + XJJ + KO + HT — 2 daily only, so if you do your daily quota, another 4 gold.

Daily Fractals

Low tier = low gold. Shocking, I know. But T4 + CM = 20+ gold if you’re good. Let’s be real: new players doing T3-T4 + recommended fractals? ~8–10 gold. CM? 20+. Pure gold, ignoring shiny loot drops, materials, and tokens.

Realistic daily grind time after life interruptions:

  • Daily missions = 5 min

  • IBS5 + DS = 30–40 min

  • Fractals = 30–40 min

Total: ~2.5 hours if luck and groups cooperate (which they won’t). Then you’re free to continue or be that responsible adult who sleeps because… work tomorrow.

Open World Meta / World Boss

Random events, random rewards. Mostly cosmetics or overpriced junk. Sometimes insane drops. Either way, good XP for mastery. If tired? Sleep, my friend, sleep.

Weekly Raids

Endgame stuff. 80% of players have a static squad, 20% try to organize strangers and cry. Clearing all raids = ~60–70 gold, drops could add another 1–20 gold. CM raids? 120–130 gold.

In summary:

  • Daily missions = 1 gold

  • IBS5 + DS = 4 gold

  • SoTO + EoD = 8 gold

  • Fractals = 8–10 gold

Total = 20–25 gold in ~2.5 hours. Save it a month + sell materials/items, and boom — ~800 gold.

Note: Numbers fluctuate. Could be 20, could be 30. Depends on RNG, group lag, how angry your cat is that you’re gaming.
