Guild Wars 2: Vision of Eternity – What’s Coming, What to Expect?

Hey everyone! With just a few days left, the excitement is building for the much-anticipated Guild Wars 2 expansion, Vision of Eternity. Beta testers have already tried out the new class specializations, and even before the classic specializations got any tweaks, some buffs and nerfs were applied. Honestly, I’m not sure how correct that approach is. Keep in mind, not every GW2 player has tried the beta — with 21 million players overall, a lot of folks haven’t tested these changes. So how happy everyone will be with these balance adjustments? That’s a big question mark.

Alright folks, hello again! Welcome, dear readers. In this post, we’ll have a little chat about what’s been happening lately — what’s coming, what’s changed, and what’s ongoing — and I’ll share my thoughts on some of the questions that might be popping into your heads. Sometimes you’ll agree with me, sometimes you might think I’m wrong — that’s the beauty of freedom of thought.

Just like when I recommend using celestial stats for open-world builds, and keeping both break stun and condi cleanse skills on your skill bar, these are just suggestions to help you enjoy the game more easily. You’re free to play full Berserker gear and get downed constantly — then blame your character for it. Isn’t that human nature? We rarely stop to think, “Did I cause this? Was it my fault?” I even noticed this in school: when we got low or average grades, we blamed the teacher, but when we aced something, we said, “I did it!” Classic, right? High school truancy? Blame someone else.

Fast forward to today — how many people actually read books or articles? Most of us spend hours watching 3–4 second videos on social media. Sure, tech is necessary, but knowing our limits is important. I always keep my little corner of the web — my site and YouTube channel — as a hobby, something I genuinely enjoy. Life has bigger responsibilities, and as the years go by, your hair thins, your skin wrinkles, your lungs get tired climbing stairs — suddenly you realize you’re not in your 20s or 30s anymore.

Wow, I just went full philosopher there, haha. But yes, I’m genuinely a Guild Wars 2 fan — I play, I follow the game, I create content. I just know where to draw the line and never forget my real-life responsibilities. My advice? Enjoy this amazing life first and foremost.

Okay, philosophical intro over. Quick note: thank you to my readers from the USA, Germany, Denmark, France, Holland, China, and all the other countries I can’t name — you guys keep me motivated!

Alright, enough chatter, let’s get to the real topic:

Vision of Eternity – What’s Coming and How?

The new expansion is almost here, and excitement is running high. Are the new specializations going to be as broken as the ones that came with End of Dragons? Will old specializations be shelved? Will there be new raids, fractals, or strike missions? New skins and mounts? Weapons and armor sets? Tons of questions are popping up.

Let’s address the first big one: yes, the new specializations will definitely be broken. That’s just the history of GW2 and most games — new classes and specializations usually come out OP. Balancing them can take months or longer, depending on complaints sent to ArenaNet. I’ll admit, I sometimes get frustrated by this too. When End of Dragons hit, jumping into WvW with a zerg meant the opposing team had full Mechanists and robots — a nightmare. Luckily, later nerfs and balance updates fixed things.

There are 9 classes in the game, and players love them all, but new specializations might not appeal to everyone. You might find them tricky to play, or just not your style. That’s normal. For example, I play Necro, Engi, Warrior, and Guardian. I dislike Mechanist on Engi, but Scrapper is a blast, so I stick with it. Holosmith looks cool, but its combo/rotation feels complicated, so I avoid it. You don’t have to love every specialization of a class you enjoy — it’s fine to pick what works for you.

Raids, Fractals, and Strike Missions

The new LFG system is coming, and I’m really curious how it will work. Previously, squad leaders picked members based on roles — now, will 2 HFBs fit in the same squad? What if a healer joins but the Commander class can’t provide the required Stability? We’ll have to wait and see.

As for new raids, fractals, and strike missions, don’t expect them until January or February. This upcoming DLC focuses on new specializations and the LFG system. Story-driven players, unfortunately, will need to wait for the next scenario and new maps.

Solo Play? Another big question: how will soloing content work? Will you get the same drops as squad play? If so, it might break the MMORPG logic. Maybe it’s more like “solo training,” where you do raids or strikes but don’t get full rewards, still needing squads to access everything. Lots of question marks here.

New Skins, Mounts, Home Instance, Weapons, and Armor Sets

This is where fashion lovers rejoice — basically where gold gets spent. Everything will be available through achievements and the gem store, designed to fit the new scenarios and maps. So no worries, your fashion cravings are covered.

Current Events

Right now, the Bonus Fractal Event is ongoing in beta, and players are farming T1 fractals. The Mad King Event is also happening, providing fun labyrinth farming. PvE content is actively consumed, while PvP and WvW deserve separate coverage — I’m running behind, trying to manage everything myself.

That’s it for now, folks! Take care of yourselves, remember you’re human, and don’t let games or phones eat up all your time. Spend time with loved ones, and share my posts if you enjoy them — let others join in too!
