Hello my lovely readers! How’s life treating you? I hope everything's going well on your end. As for me… well, life decided to go full “raid boss phase 2,” so the Monday–Wednesday–Friday posting schedule had to retire for a while. We’re switching to a weekly post — yup, just one. I know, I know… heartbreaking. But hey, at least I didn’t disappear like an AFK player in Lion’s Arch!
Like everyone else, I’ve got real-life responsibilities (unfortunately), which means less time to make content for both the website and the YouTube channel. BUT worry not! You won’t be deprived of either my chaotic articles or my incredibly educational YouTube videos. You can read the fun stuff here, and get the serious info over on my channel. Anyway, we’ve survived another exhausting week! Winter is crawling in, Christmas is sneaking up behind us, and the holiday hype is slowly warming my cold gamer heart. So what actually happened in Tyria between last week and today? Let’s dive in together!
Welcome to Black Friday in Tyria!
The moment everyone was waiting for is finally here! Our lovely players who have been hoarding gold like little dragons turned it into Gems and stared at the Gem Store like, “So… which items are gonna be discounted?” And now — the Black Friday sales have arrived.
Now listen — I can’t list everything here because the Gem Store is basically a bottomless pit. What I like might be useless to you, and what you like might look like trash to me. So yeah, you still have to actually go inside and check. But let’s not get off-topic. Moving on!
For players who are new and only own the main expansions (HoT & PoF), the Living World packs (LW 2–3–4–5) are now 30% off — and these are super important for story progression and achievements.
So here’s the real question: “I’ve got 1,000 Gems. What should I buy?”
- If you love story and lore → buy Living World Seasons 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 in order.
- If you don’t care about story and just want to farm gold → LW4 & LW5 are your best money printers.
- If your goal is to craft Aurora and Vision → you must own LW3 & LW4.
Basically, choose depending on your goals. I personally bought them in order because I like story content. My opinion? Ideally you should have all of them. But for younger players with limited budgets, I recommend progressing chronologically as you can. Again—this is just a suggestion. Final choice is yours!
Expansion Discounts
- EoD — 40% off: Unlock new elite specs, get the turtle mount, and start your Gen 3 Legendary weapons journey.
- SoTo — 30% off: Unlock weapon mastery, speed up Skyscale progression, and craft Obsidian legendary armor.
- JT — 20% off: Get the Legendary backpack Orrax, upgrade your home instance, new Warclaw features, and new Legendary weapons.
Pick the expansion that matches what you want to accomplish. Again — friendly advice, not law.
Events That Ended
Extra Life Event has officially ended. A huge thank you to ArenaNet staff and every single player who contributed. The donation amount I last saw was $111,508 — which is amazing. If it increased afterward, even better. Helping children’s hospitals is one of the most meaningful things this community does. Huge love to everyone involved!
Bonus Event: PvP Rush also ended. PvP players are crying; PvE players are celebrating. Classic balance. I hope everyone got their achievements and ranks done.
Gnashbash Birthday Celebration!
Running from to — a cute, small, sweet little event. Head to Lion’s Arch to the in-game shop; there’s an NPC on the left when you enter — talk to them and you’ll get achievements. Then you play mini-games inside the rooms to earn pages. Combine those pages with the required materials and exchange them at the vendor.
It’s short, simple, and honestly kind of adorable. Definitely worth doing before your daily routine — quick rewards, quick fun.
