Backpack Legends in Guild Wars 2: How to Get Your Free Legendary Items!
Hey folks! In this post, we’re diving into one of the juiciest parts of Guild Wars 2: backpack items. Once you hit level 80 and start doing all kinds of PvE content, you’ll start seeing Ascended items pop up – rings, accessories, armor pieces – and they feel amazing when they boost stats you actually care about!
But here’s the catch: there’s a ton of cool items in the game that can make life easier, yet we often waste time and gold because we just don’t know where to find them. One of the trickiest Ascended items? You guessed it – backpacks. So, after hitting level 80, your first goal should be grabbing the easiest Legendary items you can get.
Step one: snag the Legendary Amulet from the Season of Dragons achievement. No gold spent, zero. Nada. This baby will be your first free Legendary item. Plus, as you progress through the achievement, you’ll pick up some extra bags (28–32 slots!) along the way. A win-win!
Now, what comes next? Second Legendary item? Gold and materials are tight, right? Don’t worry – your next target can be the AD Infinitum backpack. Yep, it’s a Legendary backpack you can craft by doing fractals. Sure, there’s a little crafting cost, but if you’ve been completing the fractal achievements bit by bit, you’ve probably already gathered most of the stuff you need.
You might ask: “What about other Legendary backpacks?” Well, there’s the PvP ones (tricky achievements), WvW (takes 3–4 months), and the Janthir DLC’s Orrax backpack. Orrax looks nice, but it’s more expensive (200–300 gold more than AD Infinitum) and still achievement-based.
So, which one should you go for? If you’re a PvP or WvW junkie and don’t care about PvE, just stick with the ones in your area – it’ll be easier and faster. But if you’re a PvE player like me, you’ve got two choices: AD Infinitum or Orrax.
My personal advice? Go AD Infinitum if you’re new and low on gold/materials. If Orrax looks cooler to you and you don’t mind spending a bit extra, go for it. The difference is mostly visual: AD Inf stays in its classic color, Orrax can be dyed. Both are Legendary, so no worries about stat changes or token nonsense. Legendary items let you freely choose stats and looks – berserk, viper, assassin… the sky’s the limit!
Legendary items include armor sets, weapons, backpacks, amulets, trinkets, rings, runes, sigils, and relics. Anything your character can equip has a Legendary version. Just remember: don’t rush crafting them. Take your time, enjoy the process.
TL;DR: Grab the free Legendary Amulet from Season of Dragons first. Then aim for the AD Infinitum backpack for PvE ease. Beyond that? Your playstyle decides the rest. Most importantly, have fun – it’s just a game!
Happy gaming and have an awesome week, everyone! 🎮
